Over in the streets of Leeds, England, a shelter team found a tiny Lhasa Apso dog in an extreme state of pain and distress.
His coat was filthy the fur on his leg became stuck to his ear and fur his eyes was peeling away from his skin.
Heidi Jenner, chief inspector at the RSPCA told reporters “I can easily say this is the worst case of matted fur that I’ve ever seen. When you first see the pictures of little Soldier you can’t even tell he’s a dog, let alone what breed he is.”
The shelter team named the rescue Soldier to honor how much pain the he endured. He was suffering so much, he needed to be anesthetized so they could shave the matted fur.
“This poor dog must have been left without any grooming for months to get into such a state,” adds Heidi. After his coat was shaven off, a foster family quickly took in the lonely pup.
His caretakers weren’t sure he would recover, but he’s begun eating again, giving them hope for his survival. Everyone looks forward to Soldier’s healthy recovery.
